Gym Extras for Beginner Level Gymnasts aged 6 plus. - These are aimed at gymnasts who train 45mins-1 hour gymnasts.
Gymnasts will work skills/drills in line with their ability.
The skills list the coaches will work will work towards will be as follows :
Tumbling - basics
Rolls- forward/backward
Bridge - kickover work and walkovers forward and backward
Cartwheel alignment work
Handstand shaping and handstand roll/backward roll to handstand development
Round off & handspring development.
Power, Plyometric and Flexibility conditioning which supports the above.
Bars - Basics
Swings development of the regrasp and shaping
Strength work for upward circles
Progressions for forward hip and backward hip circles
Cast development and shaping
Undershoot and squat on progressions
Strength conditioning to aid progressions for the above
Beam - basics
Familiarity and confidence on basics
Rolls
Jumps and Balances
Leaps and spin progressions
Basic dismounts - jumps and round off
Flexibility training and ankle strength for alignment/balance to aid the progressions above
Vault - basics
Running technique
Breaking down of springboard technique
Basic shapes in the air
Squat on, straddle on and through vaults
Progression to handspring flatback vaults
Power Training to aid the above vaults
